Introduction

Passengers hoping to visit Royal Caribbean's private destination in Haiti will have to wait considerably longer, following another round of itinerary changes announced to travel agents on 30 October 2026. The latest decision means Labadee will remain absent from the affected cruise schedules for at least another 10 months beyond the previously announced suspension period.

44 cruise itineraries affected across nine ships

According to notifications sent to travel agents, Royal Caribbean has removed Labadee from 44 itineraries involving nine ships.

The affected ships are:

  • Adventure of the Seas

  • Allure of the Seas

  • Explorer of the Seas

  • Freedom of the Seas

  • Harmony of the Seas

  • Independence of the Seas

  • Serenade of the Seas

  • Star of the Seas

  • Symphony of the Seas

The changes affect sailings scheduled between 2027 and April 2028. Passengers will not necessarily receive the same replacement itinerary. Depending on the sailing, Royal Caribbean is substituting Labadee with alternative Caribbean destinations or additional days at sea.

Which destinations are replacing Labadee?

The replacement ports vary depending on the ship and sailing date. Some of the destinations appearing in the revised itineraries include:

  • Nassau, Bahamas

  • Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos

  • Cozumel, Mexico

  • Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

  • Samaná, Dominican Republic

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

  • Grand Cayman

Guests booked on certain Allure of the Seas sailings will now visit Nassau instead of Labadee. Other sailings have been adjusted to include destinations such as Cozumel, San Juan or Samaná.

In some cases, the changes go beyond simply replacing one port. The order of other destinations and the timing of existing stops have also been adjusted. Passengers should therefore check their individual booking rather than assume every sailing will receive the same replacement.

Why is Royal Caribbean cancelling Labadee visits?

Labadee is located on Haiti's northern coastline and has been an important part of Royal Caribbean's Caribbean cruise offering for decades. However, ongoing violence and political instability in Haiti have continued to affect the cruise line's ability to operate visits to the destination. Royal Caribbean originally suspended visits during 2025 and subsequently extended the cancellations through the end of 2026.

In July 2026, the company confirmed another extension, removing scheduled visits through June 2027. The latest changes extend that suspension further, through April 2028. Royal Caribbean has consistently cited the safety and wellbeing of guests and crew members as the reason for its decisions. Haiti also remains subject to serious international travel warnings, reflecting the wider security situation in the country.

Is Royal Caribbean still supporting Labadee?

The company has previously expressed its continued commitment to Labadee and its local team members, including efforts to support employees during the suspension. Royal Caribbean has also highlighted its ongoing community involvement, including education, clean-water and humanitarian initiatives. However, there is currently no confirmed date for when regular cruise visits will resume.

What happens to passengers with affected bookings?

Passengers whose itineraries previously included Labadee should receive updated information directly from Royal Caribbean. The replacement destination will depend on the individual sailing, and some passengers may see several changes to their original itinerary. Anyone with a cruise booked during the affected period should check their updated itinerary and any shore excursion bookings through their Royal Caribbean account.

What happens next?

The latest extension represents another significant setback for Royal Caribbean's operations in Haiti.

With cancellations now extending into 2028, passengers who had expected to visit Labadee will need to make alternative plans, while the cruise line continues to assess whether conditions will eventually allow regular calls to resume.

For now, Labadee remains off the schedule, and Royal Caribbean has not announced a confirmed return date.
