Introduction
The 5 night sailing, departing from Port Canaveral, Florida, on Saturday, 24th October 2026, will still visit both Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay. However, passengers will now visit these destinations on different days than originally scheduled. The changes were communicated to guests on Friday, 23rd October, giving passengers limited time to adjust their plans before departure.
What Has Changed on Harmony of the Seas?
Royal Caribbean has rearranged the order of the ship’s scheduled port visits to account for potentially unfavourable weather conditions in the Bahamas. Under the original itinerary, Harmony of the Seas was scheduled to spend Sunday, 25th October, at sea before visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay on Monday, 26th October, and Nassau on Tuesday, 27th October.
The revised itinerary now brings the Nassau visit forward to Sunday, 25th October. Passengers will then enjoy a day at sea on Monday, 26th October, before visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay on Tuesday, 27th October. The final day at sea on Wednesday, 28 October, remains unchanged, with the ship scheduled to return to Port Canaveral on Thursday, 29th October.
Importantly, neither destination has been cancelled. The changes affect the order of the port visits rather than the number of destinations included in the cruise. This distinction is particularly important for passengers who may have seen reports of other Royal Caribbean ships cancelling port calls entirely because of recent weather conditions.
Why Has Royal Caribbean Changed the Itinerary?
The changes come as Royal Caribbean monitors potentially disruptive weather conditions across the Bahamas and surrounding waters. Cruise operators regularly assess weather forecasts when planning voyages, particularly when ships are scheduled to visit destinations that may experience strong winds, rough seas or unsettled conditions.
Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private destination in the Bahamas, is particularly dependent on suitable conditions for ships to dock safely. Although the island features a dedicated pier, strong winds and challenging sea conditions can still affect whether a vessel can safely approach and remain alongside.
By rearranging the itinerary, Royal Caribbean aims to keep both planned port visits while adapting to the forecast conditions. However, weather conditions can change quickly, and the revised schedule remains subject to operational decisions made during the voyage.
What Happens to Shore Excursions?
One of the biggest concerns for passengers following a last-minute itinerary change is what happens to previously booked activities. Royal Caribbean has advised that shore excursions booked directly through the cruise line will be rescheduled where possible to match the revised itinerary. If an excursion cannot be rearranged, it will be cancelled and refunded as onboard credit.
Passengers who have booked excursions independently may face a different situation. Third party tour operators have their own cancellation and amendment policies, meaning passengers may need to contact them directly to explain the change.
This is particularly relevant for guests who arranged private tours, beach experiences or other activities in Nassau. Passengers should check their booking confirmations and contact their excursion providers as soon as possible.
Could the Itinerary Change Again?
Although Royal Caribbean has issued a revised itinerary, further changes cannot be completely ruled out. Cruise lines continuously monitor weather forecasts and sea conditions throughout. If conditions change and become unsuitable for docking, the ship’s captain may need to make additional operational adjustments. At the time of the reported notification, however, there was no confirmation that either Nassau or Perfect Day at CocoCay would be cancelled.
Passengers should continue checking the Royal Caribbean app and official onboard announcements for the latest information.
